Is your hot tub cover over a few years old? Is it starting to look a bit worn from the weather and sun exposure? It might be time for a new hot tub cover!
And, we have developed a few indicators you can look for to see if your hot tub cover does need replacing.
Hot Tub Cover Condition
Hot Tub Covers degrade over time, and that’s normal. Hot Tub Covers are designed to last for about 3 to 5 years.
If you add a Cover Cover, which is available for purchase here, you can add years of life to your cover. You can also regularly treat your hot tub cover with 303 Protectant, to protect it from the sun’s UV rays. 303 Protectant also keeps dirt off of your cover and keeps it looking fresh. 303 Protectant can be purchased at any of our showrooms.
We sell replacement hot tub covers at all of our locations in Reno, Sparks, San Jose and Santa Cruz. Vinyl
Check your vinyl for signs of: Dryness, Brittleness, Dirt, Tears, Cracks.
Any and all of these symptoms might mean that it is time for a new cover. Changes in these conditions will affect the look, safety and heat retention abilities of your cover.
Hinges and Hinge Gaskets (or Shoes)
Heat can escape from a torn hinge, which might result in heat loss from your hot tub. A new cover keeps your hot tub hot and ready to use at any time.
If your hinge gasket, or shoes, are torn, damaged or missing, heat will leave your hot tub rapidly. Be sure to get that repaired or replaced, especially if you want to get into a nice, hot, hot tub during the long Reno/Tahoe winter months.
Straps and Locks
If your hot tub cover straps and locks are torn, broken, rusted or even missing, that is something you should take care of right away. Not only is it unsightly, but it can be a safety concern, especially around children and pets.
Foam Cores
This is the most important part of your hot tub cover. Over time the foam core can sag, which will create a gap in your heat seal, leaving your hot tub less hot).
Here are a few things to look out for related to your foam core, and indicating that you need a new hot tub cover:
You see puddles on top of your hot tub cover.
You notice that your hot tub cover has become much heavier over time.
There might even be an odor, if your cover has absorbed water.
How to Keep Your Hot Tub Cover (and your Hot Tub) Healthy
Treat your hot tub cover to a regular dose of 303 Cover Protectant. This will keep the Vinyl healthy. You can do this about once a month, when you change your filter. Caring for your hot tub cover properly can extend its lifespan.
Be sure to get a new hot tub cover every 3 to 5 years, or if your hot tub cover has been damaged. Caring for all of the parts of your hot tub, including the hot tub cover, will create a more enjoyable hot tub experience.
